Binance Trading Bot: Trade-Only API Setup and Strategies

AlgoTitan runs ready-made strategies on your own Binance Futures account. It connects with a trade-only API key, which lets it open and close orders and nothing more: no withdrawals, no transfers.

Your money never leaves Binance. You also don't have to connect anything to start: for 14 days a strategy can trade demo funds against live Binance prices, with no key, no payment and no card. Paper results are simulated and may differ from live results due to fees, slippage and liquidity.

What is a Binance trading bot?

A Binance trading bot is software that places and cancels orders on your Binance account through an API key, following fixed rules instead of manual clicks. The key decides what the bot is allowed to do. A trade-only key lets it trade and read balances; it cannot withdraw, because Binance enforces that permission, not the bot.

There are two kinds of bot you will see for Binance.

Bots you configure yourself. Binance has its own built-in bot tools, and there are many open-source scripts. You choose the pair, the price range, the order sizes and when to stop. The results depend on the settings you pick.

A pre-built strategy you connect. The rules are already written and tested, and you choose a strategy by its risk tier. AlgoTitan works this way: you pick a strategy in Telegram, connect a trade-only key, and the strategy places orders on your account.

Neither kind guarantees profit. A bot executes rules reliably; whether those rules make money depends on the strategy and the market. Our guide on whether trading bots actually work covers that question in detail.

What a trade-only Binance key allows

Action Permitted
See balances and open positions Yes
Open orders on Binance Futures Yes
Cancel open orders Yes
See past trades Yes
Send crypto to any outside address No
Move funds between your Spot, Funding and Futures wallets No
Move funds to or from a sub-account No
Borrow on margin No
Change your account settings or log in No

Binance itself blocks withdrawals on such a key. No instruction from any software can override a permission the key was never given. AlgoTitan also refuses to save a key that has withdrawal enabled: the connection fails until you create a new key without it. For the mechanics behind this, see trade-only API keys explained and can a trading bot steal your crypto.

The permissions to enable on Binance

Binance lists permissions as checkboxes under API restrictions, after you click Edit restrictions on a new key. Set them like this:

Permission Setting
Enable Reading On
Enable Futures On
Enable Spot & Margin Trading (on some accounts: Spot & Margin & Stock Trading) On
Enable Withdrawals Off
Enable Margin Loan, Repay & Transfer Off
Permits Universal Transfer Off
Enable Internal Transfer (sub-accounts) Off
Options trading Off
IP access restrictions Restrict access to trusted IPs only

"Margin" in the trading permission name does not mean borrowing. That checkbox lets the key place orders. Borrowing and transfers sit under a separate permission, Enable Margin Loan, Repay & Transfer, and it stays off.

Anything marked Off should stay unchecked. Extra permissions give a strategy nothing it uses, and give an attacker more to work with if the key ever leaks.

Why the IP restriction is not optional on Binance

On Binance, a system-generated key without an IP restriction can only read. Since 30 January 2023, Binance allows such keys no permission other than Enable Reading, so a strategy could see your balance and never place an order.

The AlgoTitan mini app gives you the IP addresses to whitelist. Paste them into the trusted IPs field, and Binance unlocks the trading permissions for that key.

One side effect to know about: once a key has an IP restriction, Binance allows withdrawal permission to be switched on. Check that Enable Withdrawals is unchecked before you save.

Before you create the key: four checks

Most failed Binance connections come from one of these, not from the key itself.

  1. Your account is fully set up. Binance requires two-factor authentication and identity verification before it creates an API key, and a first deposit to activate the account.
  2. Your Futures account is open. Open the Futures section and complete the activation steps first. A key created before the Futures account was opened can never get futures permission. You would have to delete it and create a new one.
  3. Portfolio Margin is off. Binance does not grant futures permission to a key on an account where Portfolio Margin is active.
  4. You are on Binance.com. Binance TR and Binance.US run as independent platforms with their own accounts. An API key from one does not work on another. The connection on this page is for Binance.com.

Setup in six steps

The full walkthrough with every screen is in the Binance API connection guide. In short:

  1. In Binance, open API Management and click Create API.
  2. Choose System generated and name the key so you will recognise it later, for example "AlgoTitan".
  3. In Telegram, launch the AlgoTitan mini app, tap Exchanges → Binance → Connect Binance and copy the IP addresses for the whitelist.
  4. Back in Binance, click Edit restrictions, select Restrict access to trusted IPs only and paste the addresses.
  5. Set the permissions exactly as in the table above, then save. Copy the API Key and the Secret Key. Binance shows the secret only once.
  6. Paste both into the mini app and save. The app confirms when the keys are stored.

Strategies you can run

AlgoTitan strategies execute on the futures market, not spot. They are grouped into three risk tiers:

  • Low risk: BTC Shield, Foundation
  • Medium risk: BTC-ETH Vector, Catalyst
  • High risk: Kinetic, Spectrum

Titan, launched in October 2026, trades altcoins on confirmed trends.

Each strategy shows the pairs it trades, its risk tier and its maximum drawdown before you start it. Maximum drawdown is the deepest fall from a peak in the strategy's history, and it is the number to read first: our guide to max drawdown explains how. Past performance does not guarantee future results.

If futures are new to you, read spot vs futures before you pick a strategy. Futures use leverage, and a futures position can be liquidated, which a spot purchase cannot.

What breaks, and why

Seven failure modes, roughly in order of how often they happen.

The key has no Enable Futures option

The key was created before your Futures account was opened, or Portfolio Margin is active. Binance will not add futures permission to that key later. Open the Futures account (or switch off Portfolio Margin), then delete the key and create a new one.

The trading permissions are greyed out

The key has no IP restriction, so Binance limits it to reading. Add the AlgoTitan IP addresses under Restrict access to trusted IPs only, and the trading checkboxes become available.

The connection works but the balance shows zero

Your USDT is in the Spot or Funding wallet. Futures strategies trade from your Futures wallet. A trade-only key has no right to shift balances between your own wallets, because Universal Transfer stays off, and turning it on to solve this would weaken the key. Move the USDT to the Futures wallet inside Binance yourself. One manual transfer is enough.

AlgoTitan rejects the key as unsafe

Withdrawal permission is enabled on the key. Delete the key in Binance and create a new one with Enable Withdrawals unchecked.

The key was made on Binance TR or Binance.US

Keys are tied to the platform that issued them. Create the key on Binance.com.

The key or secret was copied incorrectly

A missing character or a trailing space makes the key fail authentication with no useful message. If you lost the secret, Binance will not show it again: create a new key. The common errors page lists every connection error and its fix.

The strategy stopped trading

If orders stop and the key is still active, the market may simply be quiet: strategies wait for their conditions rather than force trades. Our guide on why a trading bot is not trading explains how to tell a quiet market from a broken connection.

How to cut the connection

Whenever you want: in Binance, open API Management, locate the key you named for AlgoTitan and delete it.

The strategy loses access that second, with no request to us and nothing to cancel beforehand. Open positions stay in your Binance account, exactly as they are, and you manage them from there.

Frequently asked questions

Can AlgoTitan take money out of my Binance account? No. The key has no withdrawal permission, Binance enforces that restriction, and AlgoTitan refuses keys that have withdrawal enabled.

Is using a trading bot allowed on Binance? Yes. Binance issues API keys so that software can trade on your account. Automated trading through an API is a standard Binance feature.

Does it trade spot or futures on Binance? Futures. That is why Enable Futures must be on and why your funds need to be in the Futures wallet.

Can I use an API key I already have? It is better not to. A separate key per service lets you revoke one without breaking the others, and an older key may have been created before your Futures account was opened.

Why does AlgoTitan need my IP whitelist? Without it, Binance limits the key to reading only, so no strategy could place an order. The whitelist also means the key works only from AlgoTitan's servers, even if it were copied.

Do my funds have to leave Binance? No. The only move is between your own Binance wallets, from Spot or Funding into Futures, and you make it yourself.

Does a Binance trading bot guarantee profit? No. No bot or strategy can guarantee profit, and any service that promises it is a warning sign. See how to spot a crypto trading bot scam.

Before you connect

You can judge a strategy before doing any of this: the 14-day paper run uses live Binance prices and needs neither a key nor a payment. Our guide to paper trading explains what a paper run can and cannot tell you.

The right moment to connect is after you have seen the strategy handle a calm week and a volatile one. If you use Bybit as well, the Bybit trading bot setup covers its permission screens.

Paper results are simulated and may differ from live results due to fees, slippage and liquidity. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Trading involves risk of loss, including loss of principal. This is not investment advice.
